CONVOY — A 39-year-old woman riding a bicycle was killed Sunday when she was struck from behind by a van.
Crystle L. Brower, of rural Convoy, was riding her bicycle north on state Route 49 at 8:35 p.m. when she was struck from behind and killed, Lt. Timothy Grigsby of the the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.
The driver of the van, Ray A. Litmer, 57, of Convoy, also was driving north when he struck Brower from behind. Brower was pronounced dead at the scene by Assistant Van Wert Coroner Christine Ulrich, the patrol reported.
Litmer was not injured.
State Route 49 just west of Wolfcale Road was closed for a short time for emergency responders and the patrol to handle the crash, the patrol reported.
Alcohol does not appear to have played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation, the patrol reported.
