LIMA — Pending Lima City Council approval, the city will look to continue improving its storm sewer system with an investment in excess of $353,000. The council will consider this and other resolutions during its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Lima Municipal Building.
The council will vote on authorizing the mayor to enter into contract with Findlay-based Hohenbrink Excavating for the 2016 Various Storm Sewer Improvements Project, with the total cost not to exceed $353,434. In a letter to the council, Public Works Director Howard Elstro and City Engineer Kirk Niemeyer said Hohenbrink was the lowest and most responsible bidder for the project.
“The project includes storm sewer improvements on Cable Road between Cable Court and Spencerville Road in preparation of the sidewalk construction in 2017 and storm sewer improvements on Ford Avenue between Brookwood Drive and Virginia Avenue,” the letter reads.
Elstro and Niemeyer also said the funding for this project would come from the Storm Water Utility account dedicated to storm water improvements.
Other resolutions on Monday’s agenda include granting permission for the Council for the Arts of Greater Lima to hold a festival Sept. 3 and 4 at Faurot Park’s Rotary Pavilion; vacating a portion of Calumet Street that would be consolidated into the Lima Stadium Park project, along with a portion of property at the intersection of East Vine and Union streets that had been acquired as part of the right-of-way for the 2012 Vine Street Railroad Grade Separation project; and the purchase and training of a new police canine for the Lima Police Department, expected to cost a total of $11,300.
