Support group formed for relatives, friends of addicts

LIMA — A support group for family members with a relative or friend addicted to drugs will hold its first meeting Monday.

The meeting for Narcotics Anonymous will be held at 7 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church on West Market Street. Meetings will be held each week on Monday at the same time and last about an hour, said Pat Bowsher, who is organizing the group.

Bowsher said the meetings are for anyone who has a relative or even a friend addicted to drugs.

“I have a daughter who died two years ago from a morphine-related overdose,” Bowsher said explaining why she is forming the group. “It’s very personal.”

Bowsher sought help in Allen County but quickly learned there was none for family members of addicts.

“There is help for addicts but there is nothing for families,” she said.

Anyone wanting information on the group can email Bowsher at [email protected].
