Cops to have extra officers on road for St. Patrick’s Day week

LIMA — St. Patrick’s Day and the evening is a time of joy and local police officers do not want to change that.

They just want the fun to be had in a safe way and especially do not want anyone behind the wheel who has been drinking.

Local officers will be cracking down on drunken drivers throughout the coming St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

Lima Police Department, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol will have extra patrols on the roadways the rest of this week through Friday.

Police officials recommend anyone planning on celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with alcohol have a designated sober driver before the party begins. They also warn that “buzzed” driving is drunken driving. Anyone without a ride is urged to call a cab, friend or family member.
