Police look for man in connection with shooting

LIMA — Police are looking for a 20-year-old man detectives believe shot another man this week during a robbery.

Robert Owens III, of Lima, is wanted on a warrant for felonious assault and remains at large. Police are trying to locate him in connection with a shooting in an alley near the 600 block of Madison Avenue on Wednesday, Lima Police Detc. Steve Stechschulte said.

Police were called to the alley at 3:07 p.m. and found Austin Conrad, 21, with a gunshot wound to his right leg. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Police initially were looking for a second man but have since found that person and talked to him. He has been ruled out as a suspect in the shooting, Stechschulte said.

Meanwhile, police continue to investigate a second shooting that day at 7:23 p.m. in the 100 block of South Pine Street outside. Jeffrey Roach, 51, was shot once in the chest and survived.

Police have not arrested anyone but are looking for three boys who all were described as being between the ages of 15 and 17, 5 foot 10 with thin builds, police reported.

The three boys approached Roach, and one of the boys pulled a handgun and shot Roach. The three then ran away in a southwest direction, police reported.

Anyone with information on the shootings are asked to call police at 419-227-4444.
