Red Cross seeks gift box items military personnel overseas

LIMA — The American Red Cross of West Central Ohio is collecting items to send to troops overseas through its Services to Armed Forces program.

Items may be dropped off at the chapter house at 227 E. Main St in Ottawa through Dec. 7. A drop box will be located at Wal-Mart from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 21.

If possible, put items in a flat rate box that says APO on the side. However, if you don’t have the box just bring the items to the chapter. Do not seal the box. You may include a card or note with your items.

Items needed include ground coffee, Keurig K-Cups, sugar/sweetener & creamer packets, stir sticks, Slim Jims/jerky, trail mix, power bars, granola bars, individual size cookies, Rice Krispies Treats, powdered Gatorade/lemonade, crackers and cheese spreads, popcorn, pretzels, nuts, shampoo/body wash, pop-top cans of soup/ravioli, non-aerosol shaving cream, disposable razors, mouth wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, floss (small size), lysol wipes, phone cards, nonmelting candy/gum, shower shoes, deodorant and AA and AAA batteries.
