Weather brings a November day to remember in Lima

LIMA — Under a sunny sky and temperatures in the mid-60s, Dwight Huff Jr. just had to get outside with his little sister Sunday to enjoy what may be the last nice weekend day of the year for the weather.

“It’s just a good day. I’m enjoying it with my little sister here at the park,” he said. “The weather has been beautiful.”

Huff, his 6-year-old sister, Serenity Werling, and his girlfriend, Briahn Haithcox, were at Faurot Park with Serenity playing on the playground equipment.

Serenity loved the covered twisting slide. She ran around as Huff and Haithcox sat on a park bench watching Serenity and her endless energy play on the equipment.

Huff said it’s not out of the weather possibilities for it to be snowing on the first day of November. He knows that is coming sooner than later but for now, Huff said he will enjoy the weather.

Temperatures this week are supposed to be in the 70s but by next weekend the highs are predicted to be in the 50s and lows near freezing. Rain is scheduled for Friday.

Haithcox, who wore a short-sleeve shirt, said she enjoys the colors of the fall with the changing leaves.

“It is so beautiful. I love it here in the fall especially out there at the park,” Haithcox said.

Also enjoying the sunny, warmer weather was Logan Miller with his fiancée, Whitney Adams, and their daughter, Indigo Miller, 14 months.

“My daughter is just starting to go down the slide,” Miller said.

Miller was surprised by the weather especially after he remembered it was snowing a year ago at this time.

He also knows the cold weather is on the way but will take any warm day that comes around especially if it means a chance for his daughter to go to Faurot Park again.

“This is probably the last time she will get to go to the park for the year,” Miller said.
