Perry schools hosting Halloween events
LIMA — Perry schools is hosting two Halloween-related events for its students and the community this week.
The district’s “Trunk or Treat” event will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday. Perry schools will host 20 stations of trick-or-treating in the west wing gymnasium. The gymnasium will be decorated with more than 30 Halloween-themed inflatables. Halloween songs such as “Monster Mash,” “Thriller” and “Bad Moon Rising” will be intermixed with sound effects throughout the event. According to a news release, more than 1,000 community members are expected to attend this event.
The 30th annual Perry Elementary Parade will also be held Thursday at 1:50 p.m. Elementary school pupils kick off their parties by touring the high school to display their costumes. High school students will cheer on the children as the high school band plays movie-themed music.
Lima Senior to hold Financial Aid Night
LIMA — Lima Senior High School seniors and their parents are invited to a financial aid informational session at 5 p.m. Monday in the school auditorium.
The session is meant to provide an overview of the financial aid process. Wendell Schick, financial aid officer at the University of Northwestern Ohio, will present information pertinent to completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

COSI bringing program to Liberty
LIMA — COSI on Wheels will be at Liberty Arts Magnet School on Thursday. Kindergartners through sixth-graders will have the chance to participate in the hands-on science program. The first session will begin at 10:15 a.m., with sessions running until 2:15 p.m. There will be no sessions from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
COSI on Wheels is a traveling outreach program of COSI Columbus that engages students with hands-on science activities aligned with the Ohio Academic Content Standards and the National Science Education Standards.
Liberty students will be treated to COSI’s The Incredible Human Machine program. The program helps students learn what it takes to keep their body engines in tiptop shape. They will explore the digestive, nervous and circulatory systems, plus learn about nutrients and how exercise keeps a body healthy.
West to hold family festival
LIMA — Lima West Middle School will hold a Family Fall Festival from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the school.
The event, open to West students and their families, will include games, face-painting, prizes, entertainment and concessions. Singer and keyboardist Chris Worth will provide live entertainment. He crosses nearly all genres, including rock, country, R&B, Motown and jazz.
Vendors will sell and display crafts and homemade items, and free family pictures will be available in the Motteriffic Photo Booth.
Parent teacher conferences Nov. 2 and 4
LIMA — Parent/teacher conferences will be held in the elementary, middle and high schools in the Lima City School District on Monday and Nov. 4.
There will be no school Nov. 6. School will resume Nov. 9.

Game to raise cancer awareness, money
LIMA — The Lima Senior High School girls soccer program will present the first-ever Pink Flag Football Match at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Spartan Stadium.
The breast cancer awareness event will feature Lima Senior High School coaches and non-football athletes competing against each other.
The cost of admission is $2. Proceeds will go to the Health Partners of Western Ohio’s Women’s Health Clinic. There will be raffles during the game and trophy and MVP presentations.
