Wilson gets 1 year prison for probation violation

LIMA — A woman who fled to Florida after her car was involved in a crash that killed a man on a motorcycle was sent to prison for a year for violating her probation.

The sentence against Catherine Wilson will be served at the same time as a Putnam County case in which Wilson was sentenced to three years for violating her probation in that county for a burglary conviction.

In the Allen County case in which Wilson was convicted of trafficking in heroin, a fifth-degree felony in 2013, she was sentenced to three years probation.

Judge Jeffrey Reed asked Wilson why she ran to Florida after the crash that killed a man, especially since she was a passenger and not driving.

Wilson said she didn’t know what to do.

The judge asked if she was using drugs at the time. She said no.

Wilson, 27, has not been charged in the May 31 death of Aaron Ehrnsberger, 27. Ehrnsberger was riding his motorcycle west on Allentown Road near the intersection of Kenilworth Avenue when an eastbound car turned in front of him, police said.

Police are looking into the role Robert D. Catlett III, 31, may have had in the crash that killed Ehrnsberger. That crash remains under investigation.
