Early morning fire destroys vacant Lima house

LIMA — No one was injured Thursday in an early morning fire at a vacant home.

The fire at 483 S. McPheron Ave., was reported at 2:48 a.m. When firefighters arrived, the house was fully engulfed, said Cpt. Andy Heffner of the Lima Fire Department.

The fire caused an estimated $19,000 in damage to the home. The residence did not currently have power. A cause for the fire has not been determined. It remains under investigation, Heffner said.

A house next door sustained some heat damage but did not catch fire, Heffner said.

The home is owned by L & R. Investments LLC, according to records from the Allen County Auditor’s Office.
