Cupp to serve on health care committee

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Bob Cupp, R-Lima, will serve on a committee to examine health care efficiencies that could lead to better health outcomes at a lower cost to Ohioans, a news release stated.

Cupp has been selected as a majority member of the Ohio House Healthcare Efficiencies Study Committee, which is comprised of seven Republicans and two Democrats.

State Rep. Steve Huffman, R-Tipp City, has announced that the committee will hold four hearings around the state. Topics that will be discussed include graduate medical education, behavioral health, Medicaid, children’s health, innovative medical savings and population health management.

Here are the details of the upcoming committee hearings:

•1:30 p.m. Sept. 3 at ProMedica Flower Hospital Administration, Conference Center Room E, 5200 Harroun Road, Sylvania.

•1 p.m. Sept. 8 at Shawnee State University, 940 Second St., Portsmouth.

•Noon Sept. 16 at MetroHealth Main Campus, 2500 MetroHealth Drive, Cleveland.

•2 p.m. Sept. 22 at Mercy Health-Fairfield Complex, 3050 Mack Road, Fairfield.

Speaker of the House Cliff Rosenberger, R-Clarksville, created this committee to examine health care models across Ohio that the House can help support and promote, according to the news release. The committee’s findings will potentially be introduced later in the General Assembly.
