Arlington woman dies in Sunday crash

JACKSON TOWNSHIP — A 35-year-old woman is dead after striking a semi trailer.

Officials were called to the scene at 12:23 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of U.S. 68 and township Road 168 in Jackson Township.

A semi trailer, driven by 72-year-old Carl Forney of Princeton, Indiana, was traveling southbound and had stopped in traffic on U.S. 68. The semi trailer was struck by 35-year-old Amanda Peterson, of Arlington, who was also traveling southbound in a 2011 Honda Odyssey.

After striking the semi trailer, Peterson traveled off the west side of the highway. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Forney was treated for a minor injury that occurred after the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
