OK, one last round of Oscar gowns before we put it all away for another year. These two sparklers were probably my favorites of the night. Oscar-nominated filmmaker Ava DuVernay (“Selma,” “13th”) looked beautifully Old Hollywood in a black-and-silver Louis Vuitton gown, with a capelet and train as glittery as the night sky. Actor and presenter Nicole Kidman showed up in black-sequined Armani Privé, an asymmetrical gown whose simple shape was adorned with two large rosettes; it looked both formal and comfortable, like she’d taken a quick look at her closet, tossed it on and headed out the door. Most likely that wasn’t the case, but wouldn’t it be nice to imagine that our closets held something like this?
