LIMA — Harold “Gene” Gilbert is celebrating his 95th birthday with a private family gathering.
Gilbert was born April 19, 1928, to Michael and Helen Gilbert. On Nov. 25, 1950, he married Vergene Wilkin, who died on Nov. 29, 2014.
He has four children: Mike (Corri) Gilbert of Sylvania, Cathy (Rob) Snider of Elida, Nancy (Mike) Bible of Hudson, Ind., and Shelly Gilbert of Dayton, Ky. He has six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Gilbert is retired from Sohio Chemical. He is a member of First Baptist Church in Lima and a Navy veteran. He loves to golf, garden, fish, play cards, volunteer, travel with his companion, Elnora, and spend time with family and friends.
