Mark Figley: One gaffe after another for Biden

As the 2024 presidential election season grows near, Joe Biden, the first man to win the White House while hiding in his basement, maintains that he intends to run for re-election. This is despite the fact that he is a literal human gaffe machine who continues to mentally deteriorate on a daily basis.

During a recent appearance in California, where he talked about the planet he is so obsessed with, Biden claimed his most important commitment is to reduce carbon emissions through the conservation of 30% of all U.S. land and water. All by 2020. Now that is the definition of a man truly dedicated to overcoming the existential threat to humanity posed by climate change; even if it means going back in time.

Biden also made sure he addressed the topic of Canadian wildfires and reported that California fire-fighting technology is being used there to address the problem. What is unclear is whether Joe was advised that roughly 400 wildfires are still burning in Canada.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Grandpa Joe.

What would a League of Conservation Voters’ annual fundraising dinner be without him to liven up the event? After tooting his horn for handing out $370 billion in subsidies to environmental activist groups, Biden went wacky in promising to build a railroad across the Indian Ocean, the world’s third-largest body of water spanning 6,200 miles. He then proceeded to announce a plan to construct one of the world’s largest solar plants in Angola before acknowledging he was going to get in trouble for going “off script.” At other points in the speech, Biden similarly lost focus.

The problem is Joe has been going off script for years. And increasingly, everything that comes out of his mouth is either gibberish, an exaggeration or simply an outright lie.

Yet the topper for Biden happened on June 16 in Connecticut, where following a speech on gun control, he left the audience puzzled after stating, “God save the queen, man.” Did he even remember he attended her funeral in September 2022? To date, no one has come up with a remote explanation for why he said this.

During the same speech, Biden further brought up the number of times he visited Afghanistan and Iraq (occasions that have varied widely from his time as a senator and Vice President), claimed trucks formerly pulled up to curbs in America’s cities and sold AR-15’s, and once again referenced the classic “dog-faced, lying pony soldier” line which he falsely claimed was from a John Wayne western. A confused Biden then needed help on where to walk off stage following his remarks, but at least the audience got its money’s worth.

Joe has also had repeated falls during his term in office. Most recently, he took a full tumble during the U.S. Air Force Academy’s June 1 graduation ceremony, then pointed to the culprit, a sandbag that tripped him instead of moving out of the way.

Prior to any of these incidents, people had concerns about Biden’s cognitive abilities. An April survey of 1,000 adults found that 70% of respondents (including 51% of Democrats) don’t think Joe should run again. At this rate, the numbers can only get worse.

The question is, what are the odds the perpetually befuddled Biden actually knows about the survey? Probably not as good as whether he remembers taking a bribe from a mystery man in Ukraine.
