On a sunny Sunday late in the summer of 1901 a crowd, which by some accounts numbered 8,000 or more, gathered in the 700 block of South Main Street to witness the brick-and-mortar beginning of Lima’s second Catholic parish.

In trying to play catch up with all the January resolutions – which I did not make this year because I was still exhausted from the holidays — I decided to instead just make a list of things that I was hoping to do or accomplish. At the very top of my list, the first thing that came to mind was my basement.

Angela Bassett, who won the supporting actress award for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” glittered in this elegantly sequined Pamella Roland gown. Michelle Yeoh, winning best actress in a musical or comedy film for “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” wore midnight-blue strapless Armani Privé. Both gave acceptance speeches as gorgeous as their dresses; can’t wait to see what they bring to the Oscars.

Q. During the holidays my ex suggested we celebrate together (we have three children) for the sake of “family unity.” We broke up three years ago and have worked through a lot of drama, but for some reason she has decided she wants to try again. This seems so strange to me. I do not want to reconcile or spend the holidays together. Because I said no, she then told our kids that I was the reason we were no longer a family.
