High school roundup: Ottawa-Glandorf goe 9-0 in WBL girls soccer matches

Ottawa-Glandorf defeated Defiance 6-0 Tuesday to finish 9-0 in Western Buckeye League girls soccer matches.

Makenna Siefker and Emma Heringhaus each had two goals, Delaney Duling had three assists, Myka Aldrich and Liv Grothause each had a tally and Siefker and Kenzie Recker each had an assist as O-G improved to 16-1 on the season.

Ottoville 2, Coldwater 1

Ellie Schneider had Coldwater’s goal on an Avery Knapke assist. Teammate Sydney Grieshop had two saves.

Van Buren 3, Bluffton 2

Ella Armstrong and Aubrey Burkholder each had a goal and Marley Kindle contributed an assist for Bluffton.

Elida 11, Van Wert 0

JoJo Knight had two goals and two assists, Brianna Patrick had two tallies, Carmen Blaine and Leah Ramirez each had a goal and an assist and Lexie Good, Olivia Laux, Lauryn Chiles, Katie Munson and Zoe Voxvog each had a single tally. Ramirez and Blaine combined for the shutout in goal.

Continental’s Mackenzie Niese had 10 saves and Kalida’s Kassidy Hipsher had two saves.

The Flyers fell 25-16, 25-22, 13-25, 26-24.

Kate Ashman had seven kills, Mya Eckstein had five kills and 10 digs, Grace Moeller had 13 kills and seven blocks, Sophia Fleck had eight digs, Nora Eckstein had 18 digs, Natalie Evers had 28 assists and seven digs, Rachel Kuether had six kills and Chloe Ronnebaum had seven digs for Marion Local.

Preston Mansfield and Jayden Saxton had two goals and Joe Leis, Quinton Schnipke and Andy Moorman each had a tally.

Braxton Stegbauer, Collin Davis and Mason Rayle each had two goals and Rhettik Bowers and Jonathan Etter each had a single tally. Bain Stegbauer had two assists and Braxton Stegbauer and Carson Etter each had an assist. Collin Hammond and Jayden Pitney combined to get the shutout in goal.

Kenton 1, Kalida 0

Joel Bowman had Kenton’s goal off a Chris Villa assist.

Kalida fell to 6-6-4.

Ottoville is atop the Division III boys Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association poll. Celina is No. 9, St. Marys is tied for No. 15 in the D-II poll with Shawnee also receiving votes.

Players seek

state berths

Area tennis players will be attempting to earn state berths during Division I and II district tournaments at Port Clinton.

In D-I, singles players Kierra Siefring and the doubles team of Brooke Minnig and Elisabeth Good will be competing starting Thursday.

In D-II, Shawnee’s Ava Patel and Rose Kottapalli, Bath’s Anne Oliver and Van Wert’s Mandy Burenga are in the singles field.

Lima Central Catholic’s Libby Simmons and Claire Janowski, Ottawa-Glandorf’s Maggie Schmiedebusch and Megan Welch, Shawnee’s Jenova DeBrosse and Brailynn Murphy and Celina’s Elise Muether and Isabelle Thobe are in the doubles bracket.

D-II starts Wednesday. The tournaments will conclude Saturday starting with the semifinals.

Two singles players and the top two doubles teams will gain D-I state spots. Four singles competitors and four doubles pairs will advance in D-II.

Girls golf district

BOWLING GREEN — No area players advanced out of the Division I competition at par 72 Stone Ridge.

Celina’s Maddie Fleck tied for fifth individually with an 83. Teammate Sara Tester posted a 100 and Wapakoneta’s Natalie Hefner finished with a 112. Defiance’s Ava Hesselschwardt (78) and Anthony Wayne’s Sophia Stanton (82) secured the two individual state berths.

Computer rankings

Bluffton is atop Division VI, Region 22 with Columbus Grove third in the weekly football computer ratings released Tuesday.

Marion Local is first in D-VII, Region 28 with Minster fourth, New Bremen 13th and St. Henry 14th.

Celina is third, Wapakoneta is eighth and Elida is 13th in D-III, Region 12.

Coldwater is fifth and Spencerville is 13th in D-V, Region 18.

Waynesfield-Goshen, Pandora-Gilboa and Leipsic are sixth through eighth, Lima Central Catholic is 10th and Upper Scioto Valley is 12th in D-VII, Region 26.

In D-IV, Region 14, Van Wert is sixth and Bath and St. Marys are 13th and 14th respectively.

Allen East and Parkway are 10th and 11th respectively in D-VI, Region 24, and Lima Senior is 11th in D-II, Region 8.
