Fans cannot live without Bolton at Van Wert show

VAN WERT — Michael Bolton delighted concert attendees during a performance at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert Sunday evening.

Fans traveled to the concert from as far away as Nashville, Tennessee, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin to hear this music icon who rocketed to the top of the charts in the late 1980s and early 1990s with his biggest hits with interrogative titles like “How Am I Supposed To Live Without You?” and “How Can We Be Lovers?”

So far in his successful pop chart musical career that boasts nine number-one singles, 69-year-old Bolton has sold roughly a million records for every year he’s been alive.

Bolton’s powerful voice earned him two Grammy Awards and six American Music Awards. Sunday’s fans enjoyed a mix of his most popular songs, many of which are compiled on his recent album, “A Symphony of Hits.”

Not one to rest on his laurels, Bolton’s short haircut adds an attractive, fresh look that matches his music’s fresh attitude, like his new ballad “Beautiful World” that debuted this March on NBC’s “American Song Contest.”

To help make this a more beautiful and pleasant world for others, Bolton has been active in his personal charity work for the past 29 years to help eliminate domestic violence and abuse. This work was particularly important during the COVID-19 lockdowns when intimate partner violence escalated.

Bolton’s loyal fans, as well as his new fans, are filling concert halls like the Niswonger Performing Arts Center after COVID-19 delayed performances. His tour will be moving next to Shipshewana, Indiana, and then to New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.

Bolton will return to the area on Dec. 18 to perform at the Ritz Theater in Tiffin (https://ritztheatre.org/events/bolton/).
