Celebrating Easter in Delphos

DELPHOS — On Easter Sunday morning, Pastor Kevin Hall opened his service at the Delphos Trinity United Methodist Church with the worshipful song “Christ the Lord has risen today.”

Sunday concluded Hall’s sermon series called “It’s Friday, but Sunday is coming.” It was his final message that explained the three holy days of Easter, beginning with Good Friday and Christ’s crucifixion, Holy Saturday, a period of vigil when Jesus confronted Satan in hell, and Easter Sunday, when Jesus was resurrected.

Hall’s Sunday scripture sermon, “He knows my name,” focused on John 20: 15-16, when Mary Magdalene visited Jesus’s empty tomb following his crucifixion and burial. When Jesus spoke to her, she immediately identified that voice as his.

To bring the example to life, he made a comparison with a mother’s ability to recognize her child’s voice.

“We know the voices of those we are in connection with, like mothers recognize their children’s voices, and how a brother would recognize a brother’s voice, and that we can hear God’s voice because he spoke to our spirit when we were born,” Hall said.

Hall also welcomed newly saved individuals into the church’s family of believers.

“I believe that we are standing at threshold of revival and renewal unlike anything we’ve ever seen or experienced before. Seeing 11 people saved on Easter Sunday morning is just the beginning,” Hall said.

At 11 a.m., immediately following the service, an Easter egg hunt took place for kids in fifth grade and younger at the Family Life Center. The event featured an array of prizes, including four bicycles.

“Watching more than 70 children share in the joy of the egg hunt reminds us that Delphos Trinity Church is living into the vision: We exist to see families in our church and community transformed by the love of Christ through faith experience, discipleship and service,” Hall said.
