Smoke sends fire department to Lima’s Kentucky Fried Chicken

AMERICAN TOWNSHIP — A Kentucky Fried Chicken store may be closed while damages are remediated from a Wednesday morning fire.

The American Township Fire Department received a call at 9:13 a.m. Wednesday that there was a fire at the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant at 2723 Elida Road, Lima.

Battalion Chief Joel Will said apparently a fryer was left on with no oil in it, causing an extensive amount of smoke damage throughout the facility. He said when employees opened the building, they discovered smoke throughout the building and called the fire department.

There were no injuries in the incident.
