LIMA — The students at Unity Elementary School celebrated the birthday of children’s author Dr. Seuss by participating in various activities Wednesday.
Students in the Unity Preschool classes were involved with activities centered around Dr. Seuss, whose birthday is March 2. There was a number identification station, where kids popped balloons with numbers that were matched from a card.
Children also had fun at the rhyming station. The students donned hats and headbands featuring various Dr. Seuss characters.
The culminating activity was listening to the book “Green Eggs and Ham” and then eating the featured dish.
Dr. Seuss, born as Theodor Seuss Geisel, wrote more than 60 books. He really was a doctor, receiving his honorary doctorate degree from Dartmouth in 1955.
