LIMA — American Electric Power continues to invest in its electrical transmission lines and substations.
Meghan Blankenship, outreach specialist for AEP updated the Lima Rotary Club on Monday on the projects they’ve recently completed and ones that are in the pipeline.
There are four main projects in the area.
• The Maddox Creek Transmission Line Project, an effort that includes the replacement of about 30 miles of transmission lines between the East Lima substation to the Maddox Creek Substation in Van Wert. That project should be completed in 2022.
• The Bluffton Area Improvements Project, which includes the building of a substation and 5.5 miles of new power lines and the rebuilding of 3 miles of power lines. That project should be completed in the summer of 2023.
• The East Lima Station Expansion Project, which includes the construction of a security fence around the substation and upgrading equipment inside the substation. That project was completed in the spring of this year.
• The North Delphos Rock Hill Transmission Line Rebuild Project, which includes the replacement of 16 miles of transmission line between the two substations. That project should be finished by 2025.
“We plan to support over 3,000 jobs, and that’s with annual compensation of about $61,000 (per person). We plan to stimulate nearly $168 million in economic activities across Ohio, and that’s also in Allen County. We plan to contribute $14 million in total taxes paid to state and local governments,” Blankenship said.
