1. Michigan. The Wolverines own a 58-50-6 record over Ohio State. However, the Buckeyes have won seven straight games and 14 of the last 15.
2. John Cooper. In 13 seasons as the Buckeyes coach from 1988-2000, Cooper posted a 2-10-1 record against the Wolverines.
3. Woody explained, “Because I couldn’t go for three.”
4. Ohio State had 44 active players on 27 NFL teams when the season opened. The only teams that did not have a former Buckeye on their Week 1 roster were the Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, New York Jets and Tennessee Titans. Michigan had 24 active players.
5. Ohio State had eight rookies on active rosters on Week 1 of the NFL season: defensive end Nick Bosa (San Francisco), guard Michael Jordan (Cincinnati), defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones (Denver), wide receiver Parris Campbell (Indianapolis), offensive tackle Isaiah Prince (Miami), cornerback Kendall Sheffield (Atlanta), and quarterback Dwayne Haskins and wide receiver Terry McLaurin (Washington). 7. Jim Harbaugh was 2-0 as a player against the Buckeyes, winning 27-17 in 1985 and 26-24 in 1986.

9. It was a tie. The Ten Year War was played between 1969 and 1978, pitting Woody Hayes of Ohio State and Bo Schembechler of Michigan. Each won five games with Woody’s victories coming in 1970, ‘72, ‘73, ‘74 and ‘75. Bo won in 1969, ‘71, ‘76, ‘77 and ‘78.
10. Michigan has 16 players from Ohio listed on its 2019 roster. Ohio State has just two players from Michigan listed.
11. True. Gary Moeller was a a co-captain of the 1963 Ohio State Buckeyes and later went on to become the head coach of Michigan, posting a 44-13-3 record in five seasons, including a 3-1-1 record against the Buckeyes.
12. Michigan has won 11 national titles compared to Ohio State’s eight. However, Michigan’s last title was in 1997. Ohio State has won two since, in 2014 and 2002.

ROSES AND THORNS: A boxing referee is counting the roses in the garden instead of counting out fighters.
Rose: To Frank Garza, a 1970 graduate of Delphos St. John’s. He will be inducted into the National Boxing Hall of Fame in April 2020. He was a referee for 35 years and was named one of the top 50 referees in boxing history by the World Boxing Council during its 50th Anniversary Convention in 2012.
Rose: To Joan and Bill Hill of Vaughnsville, who celebrated 70 years of marriage on Oct. 21.
Rose: To Dr. Cynthia Spiers and the Rhodes State College board of trustees. The board did a thorough search before naming Spiers as the school’s next president, looking both outside the institution as well as inside. Spiers is no stranger to Rhodes State College as she was the special assistant to the president. She was also the executive director of institutional effectiveness and the vice president of student affairs.
