LimaJack D. Coon, 84, died Dec. 8, 2011, at Baton Rouge Senior Health Service Community.He was born April 13, 1927, in Lima to Roy D. and Bessie F. Fowler Coon, who preceded him in death. On Jan. 30, 1949, in Lima, he married Joan Coon, who survives.Mr. Coon retired from the Huntington Bank after 30 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving from July 1, 1944, to June 11, 1946. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, and a member of Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54 and the YMCA. He was a member of the American Bowling Association, where he had served as treasurer and secretary at different times. He was the first inductee of the Lima Bowling Hall of Fame. He was a national doubles champion in bowling and was also a second place winner for state singles. He enjoyed listing to music, was an avid fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and loved playing golf. In his retirement, he worked at Hawthorn Hills Golf Course. When he was younger he enjoyed playing softball. He loved his dogs.Survivors also include two sons, Kurt D. (Lori) Coon and Jack (Deborah) Coon, both of Lima; a daughter, Cheryl Coon-Graham, of Lima; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Roy (Sue) Coon, Dick (Marlene) Coon and Charles Coon, all of Lima; and a sister, Alice Hullinger, of Arizona.He was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Coon; a sister, Virginia Moler; and a nephew, Greg Coon.Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Tisch will officiate.
