OttawaBarbara Croy Hoyt, 98, died at 5:15 a.m. Oct. 24, 2011, at The Meadows of Kalida in Kalida.She was born Nov. 4, 1912, in Liberty Township, Putnam County, to Charles and Golda Haughn Mullett, who preceded her in death. In September 1940, she married Arthur Croy, who died December 1971. In June 1982, she married Charles Hoyt, who died November 2001.Mrs. Hoyt was a homemaker and retired in 1975 from GTE Sylvania, after 25 years. She is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa. She was a 1932 graduate of Palmer Township High School. She was a member of the Quarter Century Club, Ottawa Senior Citizen and the Ohio Polka Boosters. In 1978, she received the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award from Governor Rhodes. She enjoyed many years at their cottage along the Maumee River.Survivors include four children, Charles (Judy) Croy, of Ottawa, David (Rita) Croy, of Kalida, Corwin (Rita) Croy, of Lima, and Darlene Cutlip of Alpharetta, Ga.; five stepdaughters, Shirley (Alvin) Duling, of Ottawa, Geraldine Lauer, of Van Buren, Louann Miller and Janet Kirby, both of Columbus, and Patricia (Dennis) Pollock, of Van Wert; four stepsons, Dennis (Carol) Hoyt, of Columbus Grove, Richard (Marie) Hoyt, of Ottawa; Charles (Laura) Hoyt, of Ruskin, Fla., and John (Virginia) Hoyt, of Renick, W.Va.; and seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 34 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by a stepson, Donald Hoyt; five sisters, Nellie Smith, Irene Bushong, Edna Debs, Lettie Warden and Ettie Rieman; and three brothers, and Harold, George and David Mullett.Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa. The Rev. Lynda Lockwood will officiate. Burial will be in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa.Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Ottawa, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or Ottawa Senior Citizens.Condolences may be expressed at www.heitmeyerfuneralhome.com.
