DELPHOS
Ralph E. Shaeffer, 59, died at 2:58 p.m. April 3, 2013, at Kindred Hospital, Lima.
He was born Aug. 8, 1953, in Lima to Robert and Goldie Butler Shaeffer. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Lima. On May 5, 1973, he married Mary Runyan, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Shaeffer was an avid bowler, bowling eight 300 games and two 800 series. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, The Ohio State University Buckeyes and going to car shows. Most important was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a 1972 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471, Delphos, and the Bowlers Hall of Fame. He worked at Drapery Stitch, Delphos, for more than 25 years.
Survivors also include a son, Robert Shaeffer Sr., of Delphos; two daughters, Michele (Dwayne) Collins, of San Diego, and Nicole (Danny) Schleeter II, of Delphos; a sister, Linda (Gerald) Bowers, of Spencerville; three brothers, Rick Shaeffer and Terry (Sherri) Shaeffer, both of Lima, and Jeff (Mary) Shaeffer, of Elida; 10 grandchildren, Jordon and Alexandrea Williams, both of San Diego, Natashia, Tyler and Robert Jr. Shaeffer and Kali Edgington, all of Delphos, and Gage, Victoria, Katlynn and Danny III Schleeter, all of Delphos; and seven nieces and nephews and four great-nieces and -nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos. The Rev. Bill Schultz will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
