Monday morning quarterback.
Have you heard that phrase used?
Its definition is basically describing a fan’s reaction from something that had recently occurred — usually critical, too.
And believe me, it is not just in football.
We question play calls, strategies and decisions all the time.
Sports and life.
Second guessing is second nature for most of us.
I have become an expert at it, too.
Not that I am right on much of my second guessing certainly, but hosting a sportstalk radio show and authoring weekly columns, it has become my job to opine.
And to get feedback from it.
What is amazing to me is the people I run into, that give me their opinion.
Not about politics, folks.
Or the stock market.
Or the weather.
It is always something about sports.
“When are you going to apologize to us Browns fans that you were wrong about (Johnny) Manziel?” said one of those Monday morning QB’\s, earlier this week.
“What?” I responded.
“How are you?” I continued. “How’s your day?”
“Manziel in a treatment center?” “Good for him, but when he gets out, I don’t want him as a member of the Browns.” “Good riddance,” said another M.M.Q.B.
“So, how’s your day going? I countered. “How about that weather, huh?”
We are so quick to “pull the trigger” on anything going on, and then the media pounds it into our heads and into the ground, too.
Wait a minute, that’s my job.
I admit that I was analyzing every part of Super Bowl XLIX, from the pre-game; to the game itself; to the halftime show; to the post-game; and even the commercials.
I was analyzing the analyzing.
But that’s what makes sports so awesome.
The chance to interact with the games we watch.
The news and sports stories that we read and watch.
So keep asking me about sports — when you see me on the street, folks.

Oh and my latest M.M.Q.B. thoughts:
• Yes, I was stunned at the play call by the Seahawks at the end of the Super Bowl.
But let us credit the defensive back for an incredible play, too. Watch the replay, folks. He knew it was coming, and to make the interception as well? Incredible!
• No doubt that Seattle head coach Pete Carroll was a “stand-up” guy answering all of the tough questions about the pass play, but it will still go down in history as one of the worst decisions ever! In any sport! As a lifelong suffering Cleveland pro sports fan — hey it’s good for Seahawks fans to have to think about it for a while.
• Speaking of the Browns — love the decision by Johnny Manziel (or someone close to him) to have him enter a treatment facility. To read quotes attributed to his father from the past couple of years, and to see and hear what has gone on with him since becoming a Cleveland Brown — it certainly seems like a step in the right direction.
It doesn’t mean he will now be a good NFL quarterback, but let’s worry about Johnny Manziel — the person — first.
*Finding out that Browns receiver Josh Gordon has been officially suspended for the 2015 season and without pay is welcoming news. Can we move past him now? Please? And the open letter to his “detractors?” Uh, proof is in the pudding Josh!
• Back from an Ohio High School Athletic Association media advisory board meeting last week, and learned that the location for the State Football Finals is up in the air for 2016. Stark County is out with construction of a “Hall of Fame village” to be underway. And Columbus is now a question mark with the city also hosting the NCAA Volleyball Championships. But O.H.S.A.A. commissioner Dr. Dan Ross told us, he believes it will still be worked out to keep it in Columbus for 2016.
• Did you know that the attendance for the 2014 State Football Finals was up more than 22,000 from the year prior?
• Final reminder if you are ready to talk baseball — Indians broadcaster Jim Rosenhaus and Indians senior vice president of public relations Bobby DiBiasio will both be in Lima on Thursday night for a free question and answer session live at Westgate Entertainment Center. By the way, pitchers and catchers report in less than two weeks. I can’t wait!
