WAPAKONETA — An Auglaize County man convicted of 79 charges related to photographing nude teenage girls said Wednesday all witnesses and police investigators lied to convict him.
“I’m sitting here today about to be sentenced for something I didn’t do,” Tim Workman said. “What I’m being called is borderline like being called a child molester. I don’t like being called what I’m being called.”
Workman, 45, said everyone worked against him to wrongly convict him.
Judge Frederick Pepple of Auglaize County Common Pleas Court sentenced Workman to 40 years in prison Wednesday on 78 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and one count of tampering with evidence.
“Everyone lied,” he said. “The alleged victims know I didn’t do it. They know who did it. They chose to come into the courtroom and lie under oath.”
Assistant Auglaize County Prosecutor Andrew Augsburger said Workman met a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl through a gym he had at his home. He used the gym to get close to the girls and persuade them to allow him to take nude photos in 2013.
Police found the camera Workman used to take the photos in his truck, Augsburger said.
As far as authorities can tell, Workman took the photos for personal use not to sell or trade, Augsburger said. The prosecutor said Workman also threatened to kill the girls for going to police.
Pepple classified Workman a Tier II sex offender requiring him to register with the Sheriff’s Office in the county he lives and works for 25 years.
Workman is no stranger to the criminal justice system. He’s been in and out of prison on multiple robbery charges along with theft and escape dating back to the 1980s. Workman also has a pending weapons charge in federal court in Toledo and a tampering with evidence charge in Mercer County, Augsburger said.
