Logger injured by fallen tree in Putnam County

CLOVERDALE — The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office investigated a call concerning an injured logger at 1:53 p.m. Monday.

According to the report, William Charles Rayle Jr., 53, received incapacitating injuries after being crushed by a fallen tree in the woods behind Cloverdale Catholic Church. Rayle was able to free himself but was unable to move because of the nature of the injury.

Kalida Heavy Rescue was requested because of the nature of the incident and the rough terrain of the wooded area.

The Sheriff’s Office said no other information could be released and reported they did not have an update on Rayle’s condition.
