LCC girls move on to district in hoops

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Madison Stolly (26), Kayla Verhoff (11) and Natalie Snider (10) all scored in double digits as Lima Central Catholic defeated Upper Sandusky 60-57 in a Division III girls basketball sectional championship game at Riverdale High School on Saturday night.

The Thunderbirds will play Liberty-Benton, a 63-26 winner against Kenton, at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Elida district semifinals.

Division IV

Crestview 51, Delphos Jefferson 17

VAN WERT — Terra Crowle and Emily Bauer had 12 points each and Lindsay Motycka scored nine as Crestview advanced to play Ottoville at 6:15 p.m. Thursday in the Lima Senior district. Tori Black led Delphos Jefferson with six points.

Ottoville 48, Lincolnview 28

VAN WERT — Brooke Mangas had 17 points and Alicia Honigford scored nine for Ottoville. Ashton Bowersock had 12 points and Julia Thatcher scored 10 for Lincolnview.

Leipsic 62, Pandora-Gilboa 41

OTTAWA — Kelly Nadler had 16 points and Shalynn Morman and Kierra Meyer scored 12 each for Leipsic, which will play Kalida at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Lima Senior district semifinals.

Kalida 56, Delphos St. John’s 46

OTTAWA — Jackie Gardner and Kylie Osterhage had 13 points each and Brittany Kahle scored 12 for Kalida. Lexie Hays had 12 points and Emilee Grothouse scored 11 for Delphos St. John’s.

Upper Scioto Valley 57, Minster 55

KENTON — Shelby Spradlin (20), Emily Patton (12) and Breann Mullins (11) all scored in double digits for USV, which will play New Knoxville at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Wapakoneta district semifinals. Logan Arnold (13), Lauren Roetgerman (12) and Rosie Westerbeck (10) all scored in double digits for Minster.

New Knoxville 52, New Bremen 36

KENTON — Meg Reineke had 19 points and Kenzie Schroer scored 16 for New Knoxville. Alyse Clune led New Bremen with 18 points.

Ada 53, Fort Recovery 49

COLDWATER — Tori Wyss had 20 points and Alexis Amburgey and Haley Wyss scored 14 each for Ada, which will play Marion Local, a 58-29 winner over St. Henry, in the Wapak district semifinals at 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

OAK HARBOR — Area wrestlers who advanced to next weekend’s district tournament at Mansfield Senior included: Bath’s Nate Stonehill (fourth, 145) and Isaac Ingram (fourth, 160); Elida’s Austin Selvaggio (fourth, 106), Blaine Hunter (second, 113), Gabe Makin (third, 138) and Noah Meeker (second, 220); Shawnee’s Derek Kuhlman (second, 152), Bailey Young (fourth, 220) and Donald Hughes (third, 285); Wapakoneta’s Brad Beemer (fourth, 113), Tyler Copeland (first, 132), Dallas Ambos (third, 145), Dylan Plaugher (fourth, 152), Heath Newman (first, 170) and Landon Hall (third, 182).

SANDUSKY — Kenton advanced three wrestlers to next weekend’s district tournament at Mansfield Senior. C.J. Cook (first, 160), Dylan Castle (first, 182) and Tobias Mendoza (fourth, 138) all qualified for districts. as team Kenton finished eighth with 87 points.

Division III

MILLBURY — Ottawa-Glandorf had four wrestlers advance from the event at Lake High School to next weekend’s districts at Fostoria. Le’on Palomo (second, 113), Brent Siefker (fourth, 120), Daniel Beemer (third, 160) and Shaun Gibson (second, 285) all advanced. The Titans finished eighth in the team standings with 86 points.

LIMA — Area wrestlers winning sectional titles at Lima Central Catholic included: LCC’s Kobe Cunningham (106), Hunter Lucas (113), Collin Hennon (132) and Jack Huffman (182), Allen East’s Schuyler Caprella (126) and Brandon Soules (152); Bluffton’s Blake Sampson (285); Coldwater’s Jordan Obringer (138) and Nick Clune (220); Brett Vonderwell (160) and Wes Buettner (195) of Delphos St. John’s and Ada’s Austin Windle (170).
