SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS

Ohio Northern University senior Brandea McIntyre, international theater production and Spanish dual major from Cincinnati, was awarded the 2015 U.S. Institute of Theatre Technology Ohio Valley National Conference Scholarship.

Rhodes State College: Jack Hershey, president and CEO of Ohio Association of Community Colleges, will speak at the Rhodes State College Annual Advisory Committee Dinner on Thursday. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Keese Hall Multipurpose Center.

Bluffton University: The annual “Women Enriching Women” conference sponsored by the Bluffton University Women’s Council and Bluffton Hospital is scheduled to take place April 18. Dr. Matthew Friesen, Bluffton University’s new assistant professor of sociology, will discuss his recently completed doctoral dissertation and a related research method in a Bluffton colloquium at 4 p.m. Friday in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall.

University of Northwestern Ohio: The State of Ohio Agricultural Power Diagnostics CDE Contest is scheduled to take place from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 6. The event will also include a dinner at 6:30 p.m. March 5 in the Crystal Room at the college’s Event Center.

Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law will present “Estate Planning for Alternative Couples” in the Dicke Forum on at 3 p.m. March 13. The event is sponsored by the ONU LAMBDA Law Students Association.

Ohio Northern University’s Habitat for Humanity Chapter is getting ready to take 110 students on work trips during their spring break. These students have given up their spring breaks and decided to build homes for the needy.

University of Findlay: Parachute, a pop-rock band from Charlottesville, Virginia, will be performing at The University of Findlay’s Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex at 7 p.m. March 13. COURSES AND TRAINING

Bluffton University: The Institute for Learning in Retirement, an educational program for retirees, is offering 10 courses beginning March 23. Each course costs $50.The cost to take three or more is $100. Registration and course fees are due at the time of registration. The deadline to apply is March 20.

Rhodes State College: The Workforce, Economic Development and Continuing Education department at Rhodes State College is hosting several professional development workshops in March. Topics inlcude Kaizen or rapid improvement process, Ethernet for ControlLogix Network, Introduction to DeviceNet I/O Networks and virtual stream mapping, among others. Workshops will take place between March 4 until March 31 or June 1. The college is also offering a series of computer courses. For information about either call 419-995-8406.

Rhodes is also offering a free monthlong class to prepare entry-level manufacturing employees. The West Central Ohio Manufacturing Consortium will offer its Basic Manufacturing Pathway class March 4 through the 27 at Ohio Means Jobs – Allen County, 1501 S. Dixie Highway, Lima.
