Decker honored by Ottawa River Coalition
Russ Decker was honored by the Ottawa River Coalition and given the organization’s 2015 Outstanding Watershed Partner. The organization also honored the Allen County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management as their 2015 Most Outstanding Member Organization.
Decker was recognized for superior and effective leadership to the Ottawa River Coalition as an officer from 2010 through 2014. During that time the Coalition grew in membership and finances, with Decker playing a significant role in both accomplishments. He initiated the Silent Auction in 2011 and facilitated an increase in those proceeds each year since.
The Allen County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency has been a member of the Ottawa River Coalition since its 1993 inception.
Tuttle Construction finalist for award
Tuttle Construction, Inc., a subsidiary company of Tuttle Services, Inc., of Lima, has been selected as a finalist for the 16th annual AGC/WILLIS Construction Safety Excellence Awards.
The award is sponsored by the Associated General Contractors of America with the purpose of nationally recognizing those construction companies excelling at safety performance. The organization examines each candidate’s commitment to safety and occupational health management and risk control. The selection process is comprehensive, where judges look for evidence of company management commitment, active employee participation, safety training, work site hazard identification and control and safety program innovation.
Coleman Professional Services recognized
Coleman Professional Services, with offices in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin and west central Ohio, has been named the recipient of the Outstanding Community Leader Award offered by the Sales and Marketing Executives International of Akron/Canton. Coleman was chosen because of its dedication to improving the quality of life for the communities it serves.
Coleman Professional Services is a nationally recognized, not-for-profit provider of behavioral health and rehabilitation programs that improve the lives of individuals, families and businesses in Ohio.
APPOINTMENTS
Samaritan House appoints director
Brandi Schroeder has been appointed executive director of Lima’s Samaritan House. She replaces Marilyn Cipollone, who retired effective Jan. 1.
Schroeder has been employed by Samaritan House since 1998. She previously worked as a case management intern while attending Lima Technical College. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Northwestern Ohio and her associate’s in human services from Lima Technical College.
Schroeder resides in Columbus Grove with her husband, Paul, and their children.
Lutheran Homes announces president/CEO
The Lutheran Homes Society Board of Directors has appointed W. Richard Marshall as the next president/CEO of the social ministry organization. Marshall takes over for David Roberts, who retired Jan. 31. Lutheran Homes Society operates Luther Pines senior apartment community, in Lima.
Marshall comes to Lutheran Homes Society from Christian Care Communities, Inc. in Louisville, Kentucky. He has more than 20 years experience in health care finance and operations, with direct experience in operations, strategic planning, information systems implementation, bond debt financing and banking relationships.
He has a master’s degree in entrepreneurship from the University of Louisville, where he graduated with distinction. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky, where he graduated with high distinction and departmental honors.
NEW HIRES
Lima YMCA welcomes new staff
The Lima Family YMCA welcomed two new staff members, Lowell Nees and Ben Sandrock.
Nees will be the interim CEO and will be serving in this capacity until a new CEO is named in approximately four months.
Nees retired three years ago after serving 42 years in the YMCA, most recently in Miami County. He currently lives in Piqua with his wife, Jan. Nees was born and raised in Lima and spent many hours in the Lima YMCA before moving to Columbus to attend The Ohio State University.
Sandrock replaces Julie Guidera in the membership department, as membership director. Guidera has changed offices and is the administrative assistant at the YMCA.
Sandrock has a bachelor’s degree in sports management and a master’s degree in business administration from Tiffin University. Prior to coming to the Lima Family YMCA, Sandrock was the sports director at the Peter Blum Family YMCA in Boca Raton, Florida. He lives in Tiffin with his wife, Meghan, and their son, Roman.

Lima’s Samaritan House elects board
The board of directors of Lima’s Samaritan House have been elected for a term of two years, including president Bev Miller; vice president David Stein; treasurer Greg Schade and secretary John Willamowski.
Samaritan House provides emergency shelter for homeless women and children and has been serving Lima and the surrounding community since 1987.
