Copper spools stolen

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Three spools of copper were stolen from the AEP substation on Sellers Road in Shawnee Township sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Each spool holds wire that is 750 feet in length and weighs between 750 to 1,000 pounds. Each spool is valued at $7,200, creating a total loss of $21,600, according to Shawnee Township Police Department officials.

The theft occurred between 5:30 p.m. Monday and 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. The wire is braided, and the center wire has an AEP marking on it.
