Lima Senior wins 7th straight in boys basketball

TOLEDO — Lima Senior won its seventh straight game and moved to 5-1 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference with a 72-47 victory over Toledo Whitmer on Wednesday night.

It was the Spartans’ second game of four in a five-day stretch. Lima Senior defeated Toledo Central Catholic 70-39 Tuesday and will be at home against TRAC foe Toledo St. Francis on Friday and Ottawa-Glandorf on Saturday.

Against Whitmer, the Spartans outscored the Panthers in every quarter. Elijah Pughsley led Lima Senior in scoring with 21 points, including four 3-pointers. Xavier Simpson (15) and Rico Stafford (13) also scored in double digits for the Spartans.

Lima Senior (7-2) is alone atop the TRAC standings, a half game ahead of Toledo St. John’s and Findlay, both 4-1 in the conference. Whitmer fell to 4-7 overall and 1-5 in the league.
