LIMA — Froyo fans will have to wait a little bit longer to get their fill in Lima.

Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt is set to open sometime in February, according to franchise owner Clara Weitz.

The storefront, located at 2300 Elida Road, has been occupied for a few months with the sign up, as Weitz has been working to remodel the inside and prepare the store.

Construction will be done today, she said. And then, it’s just a waiting game until officials from the corporate headquarters in California can come and visit.

“Everything is going pretty well,” she said. “We’re finishing up the store now.”

Weitz hired 14 employees and said after headquarters comes to visit, which she is hoping will be by the end of the month, the store will be ready for a soft opening and then its seven-day grand opening celebration.

Menchie’s is a “healthy alternative to frozen desserts,” she said in a previous interview.

Menchie’s offers low-calorie, low-fat, sorbet, no sugar, kosher, vegan, gluten-free and tart options. All its yogurt contains live and active cultures, Weitz said.

The Lima location will offer 21 flavors at once, but will change them out every two weeks and has more than 70 different flavors overall.

The store will be open from October to February every day from noon to 10 p.m. and from March to September on Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight.
