KENTON — The Mental Health Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize and Hardin Counties, New Hope Ministry Park, and the Kenton Urban Minority Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Outreach Programs have combined efforts to relocate Hope Ministry Park in an effort to better serve its clients.
The three organizations have been working together to serve hundreds of Hardin County residents suffering from opiate addiction. The Hope Ministry Park has been the home of the Hope Recovery Center for 18 months, operated by Kenton UMADAOP with funding from the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board.
However the groups have had trouble obtaining a “certificate of occupancy” from the Ohio Department of Commerce, which has not materialized. The certificate is essential for Kenton UMADAOP to operate its full complement of addiction recovery and treatment services.
As a result, the Hope Recovery Center will be moving to a new location on Main Street in downtown Kenton near the Kenton Health Clinic. Proximity to the clinic will allow for the certificate to be more easily obtained.
“We look forward to our continuing relationship with UMADAOP and their recovery coaches to offer vital services to those most in need in Hardin County,” the Rev. Jason Manns of New Hope Fellowship said.
“The connection between the Hope Ministry Park and Kenton UMADAOP remains strong,” said UMADAOP Executive Director Myrtle Boykin-Lighton. “I feel it was the use of the facility that provided the comfortable atmosphere for community people seeking help. We will continue to look to them as a resource for our staff to help Hardin County residents.”
The Hope Recovery Center plans to move into its new quarters sometime in early February.
