LIMA — It is now time for the Allen County Commissioners to appoint a new director of the Allen County Emergency Management Agency.

On Thursday, the commissioners officially accepted the resignation of Russ Decker, the now-former director of the agency. Decker has accepted a deputy director position with the Ohio EMA.

“It’s something we need to do, but it’s with trepedation that we do so,” Commissioner Jay Begg said Thursday.

Commissioner Greg Sneary highlighted Decker’s milestones in his career such as Sept. 11, 2001, an anthrax scare, a speech titled, “A Different World” and more.

Through these accomplishments, Sneary said it’s no wonder why the state “picked up” Decker.
