Ohio officeholders Justice Pat Fischer, Justice Pat DeWine, Justice Sharon Kennedy, Allen County Republican Chairman Keith Cheney, U.S. Senate Candidate JD Vance, Governor Mike DeWine, First Lady Fran DeWine, Secretary of State Frank LaRose, Treasurer Robert Sprague, Lt. Governor Jon Husted and Auditor of State Keith Faber join the Republican Party luncheon in Allen County.

LIMA — There are many entities in the federal and state government that make the world go around. The State of Ohio GOP administration joined the Allen County Republican Party luncheon four days before the general election. Each candidate is running for re-election or hoping to fill a new position in Ohio.
U.S. Senate
U.S. Senate candidate JD Vance (R) is running against Congressman Tim Ryan (D) for the seat to be vacated by Sen. Rob Portman in 2023.
Vance weighed in on the election and his excitement for the future, including the construction of Intel’s semiconductor plant in central Ohio.
“We talk about this Intel facility,” said Vance. “I’m so excited about this for a lot of reasons. Number one for 30 or 40 years we have been shipping jobs to China Mexico to India. It represents bringing those jobs back to our country again. It is also important for the national security of this nation. You know that there is nothing that the military uses that does not require computer chips. I would like to have that stuff made here right in Ohio, not in communist China. That is a good thing.”
Governor and Lt. Governor
Governor Mike DeWine (R) is running against the former Dayton mayor Nan Whaley (D). DeWine hopes to continue to serve the people and move forward in opportunity.
“Our goal is to invest in people,” said DeWine. “That is what we said we are going to do that is what we are doing with this legislature. Whether it is the Dolly Parton Imagination library where Fran is getting books out to over half the kids in the State of Ohio or whether it is early childhood development. Opportunity is what this party is all about. We are moving this state forward.”
Lt. Governor Jon Husted (R) joins DeWine’s ticket against Whaley’s running mate, Cheryl Stephens. Husted commemorated the leadership of Governor DeWine.
“We know where Ohio is going with Governor DeWine’s leadership and that is in the right direction,” said Husted. “In this State, we are creating jobs faster than we could fill them. The great thing about it is we won’t need to make the things we need the most in China anymore, like computer chips and things like that. We are going to make them in Ohio.”
Secretary of State
Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R) is running against Elida native Chelsea Clark (D). LaRose previously served in the U.S. military. During the luncheon, he recalled his time overseas.
“In Iraq, they said your most dangerous time in this country will be your final days here,” said LaRose. “You stop paying attention and you become complacent. The same thing is true in politics. Complacency is dangerous. We have heard about a red wave. I think it will happen, but not if we don’t do the work. That is why I’m asking for your vote and prayers for all the candidates.”
Ohio Supreme Court
Justices Pat Fischer (R) and Pat DeWine (R) are running for re-election in the Ohio Supreme Court against Judge Terri Jamison (D) and Judge Marilyn Zayas (D), respectively. Justice Sharon Kennedy (R) will be running against Justice Jennifer Brunner (D) for Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court to replace Maureen O’Conner, who is not seeking reelection due to age limits.
Justice DeWine and Justice Kennedy said that judges should uphold the rule of law and make decisions based on the language of the Constitution.
“When all three of us win, you will get four conservatives in the Ohio Supreme Court and we take back control,” added Fischer. “Don’t forget we have partisan designation this year. R stands for respect law enforcement and D stands for defunding the police. Your choice. Vote for the three supremes or vote for the rock group Sharon and the two Pats.”
The expression “defund the police” refers to the demonstrations that happened nationwide in 2020 after the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. In Ohio, Gov. Mike DeWine has awarded over $70 million in grants to law enforcement agencies during his term as Governor.
Ohio Treasurer of State
Treasurer Robert Sprague (R) is running against Scott Schertzer (D). Sprague weighed in on the impact of the economy on farmers.
“The people who have been affected by gas prices are our farmers,” said Sprague. “They have seen the price of diesel more than double. So the cost of the harvest has gone from $30,000 to $70,000 in some cases. Your ballot sheet is the treasury is standing with Ohio farmers, to lower their interest rate anywhere from a half percent to 3 percent during this next planning season because farmers represent the backbone of Ohio’s economy.”
Ohio Auditor of State
Auditor Keith Faber (R) is running against Taylor Sappington (D). Faber spoke on the future generations.
“We do what we do, not for us but for our kids and grandkids,” said Faber. “This election will be the defining moment as to whether our kids and grandkids can have a future that is bright here in Ohio.”
Ohio Attorney General
Attorney General Dave Yost (R) is running against Jeff Crossman (D). Allen County Republican Chairman, Keith Cheney, honored Yost for keeping criminals in Ohio righteous. Cheney then encouraged community members to vote.
“We set history here by having every branch here in government and the top of every branch,” said Cheney. “Please go out and vote, use your social media. These races are so important and you can make a difference.”
