Roundup: Shawnee remains unbeaten in girls soccer

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Kamryn Morris had three goals and Alex Hammons had a single tally as Shawnee improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Western Buckeye League with a 4-3 girls high school soccer victory Tuesday night against Celina.

Kira Dirksen, Isabella Duenas and Rachel Rammel each had a single tally for Celina. Shawnee’s Tayma Jmiai and Celina’s Taylor Klingshirn each had an assist.

Shawnee’s Chloe Nance made seven saves and Celina counterpart Riley Seitz had eight saves.

Ottoville is 13th in D-III with Western Reserve Academy atop the rankings. Julia Mehaffie and Ellie Hartzler combined for the shutout in goal.

KALIDA — The tournament will start at 9 a.m. Saturday with matches being played at the high school and St. Mike’s gym at the elementary school.

Teams scheduled to play include Wayne Trace, North Central, St. Marys, Delphos St. John’s, Fairview, Liberty-Benton, Bath and the host Wildcats.

Medalist Connor Nartker (33), Drew Bus (40), Ehtan Warnecke (42) and Kayla Nartker (42) contributed to the winning total. Elida’s Carson Harmon (34) and LCC’s Parker Judy (42) had the low rounds for their respective schools.

CELINA — Parkway (184) had the low team total against fellow Midwest Athletic Conference members New Bremen (230) and New Knoxville (237) at par 36 Celina Lynx. Medalist Roman Leszinske (38), Jackson Kraner (48) and Rylan Lyons (48) led the way for the Panthers. Mason Schumm and Trenton Garwood each shot 50 also for Parkway. New Knoxville’s Jay Waterman (46) and New Bremen’s Alex Homan (49) had the low rounds for their respective schools.

OAC recognition

ADA — Ohio Northern sophomore Alyssa Beckett (Monroe) and junior Kylie Cabana (Dexter, Mich.) were named Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Players of the Week for the week of Sept. 1-4.

Beckett was named OAC Offensive Player of the Week, and Cabana was named OAC Defensive Player of the Week.

This marks the first career OAC Player of the Week award for both.
