OTTAWA — The area where Ottawa Elementary School once stood will soon see a new use.
Bob Meyer Builder Inc. is developing a new subdivision, North Thomas Street Court Subdivision, at East Fourth and North Thomas streets.
The area to the right of the old school gym, which is still owned by the Ottawa-Glandorf schools, and behind the gym has been developed into plots for the subdivision. A short entrance road has also been constructed to connect the back lot to North Thomas Street.
“We are in the process of selling the lots now,” said Bob Meyer, owner of Bob Meyer Builder Inc. “Development is complete, but utilities are not in yet.”
There are 12 lots for sale, Meyer said. The sizes range from .231 acre to .351 acre. Each lot varies in price as well, he said, ranging from $29,500 to $36,000. These are developed lots, so the price includes street, curb and sidewalk as well as the land itself, Meyer said.
There will also be some restrictions on what type of construction will be allowed in the subdivision, he said. Those details will be part of the purchase agreement when lots are bought, Meyer said.
So far, there are no homes built yet. Meyer said after people purchase lots, the company will begin building the houses. As of Thursday, two lots have been purchased and one lot is pending purchase, he said.
“It’s not a gated community or condo association,” Meyer said. “It’s single family residences.”
