Roundup: Area boys basketball season gets underway

Many area high school boys basketball teams began play Friday night.

Spencerville 52,

Minster 43

SPENCERVILLE — Josh Henline had 12 points and Dylan Smith scored eight for the host Bearcats, who outscored the Wildcats 23-11 in the fourth quarter. Brogan Stephey had 15 points and Johnny Nixon scored 13 for Minster.

Lehman Catholic 56,

Temple Christian 27

LIMA — Cody Motter had seven points and Ashton Draper scored six for Temple Christian.

Anna 73,

New Knoxville 42

ANNA — Max Henshen had 11 points and Ryan Osborne and Carson Bierlien each scored nine for New Knoxville.

Arlington 50,

Fort Jennings 36

ARLINGTON — Nick Trentman had 12 points and Jarron Swick scored 10 for Fort Jennings.

Cardinal Stritch 75,

Leipsic 74

LEIPSIC — Mason Brandt had 39 points and Paul Maag scored 16 for the host Vikings.

Liberty-Benton 64,

Hardin Northern 51

FINDLAY — Nevin Robson had 26 points and Zeb Wilson scored 16 for Hardin Northern.

New Bremen 62,

Ottoville 43

NEW BREMEN — Aaron Thieman had 15 points and Trevor Bergman and Nick Alig each scored 13 for the host Cardinals, who held a 38-21 lead at halftime. William Miller had 22 points for the Big Green.

Paulding 53,

Continental 43

PAULDING — Zach Gorrell had 15 points and Christian Bauer scored 14 for Paulding, which held a 31-23 halftime advantage after the game was tied at 13 at the end of the first quarter. Gavin Huff had 15 points and Alex Sharritts scored 12 for Continental.

Ada 60,

Ridgemont 59

ADA — The host Bulldogs outscored the Golden Gophers 15-13 in the fourth quarter to earn the victory.

Spencer Wall had 26 points and Carter Conley and Cayden Murphy scored 14 and 11 respectively for Ada. London Newland had 26 points and Mason Stuck scored 14 for Ridgemont.

Columbus Grove 21

COLUMBUS GROVE — Trey Sautter and Tadd Koch each had seven points for Grove.
