CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — An Ohio man accused of scamming a South Charleston day care center has pleaded guilty in the case.
Media outlets report Christopher Hardin pleaded guilty in Kanawha County Circuit Court on Tuesday to a misdemeanor charge of obtaining false pretenses.
Authorities say the Oakhurst Child Development Center's director wrote Hardin a check for $15,000 for playground construction three years ago, but the work was never done.
Hardin paid back all of the money to the day care center on Tuesday. He will be sentenced June 10.
WSAZ-TV reports investigators say Hardin, who is from northeast Ohio, is accused of similar crimes involving non-profit organizations across the United States.
