Suspect shot in Pennsylvania after abducting woman from Ohio

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — Police say a man suspected of abducting a woman from a Cleveland suburb has been wounded in Erie, Pennsylvania, after breaking into a home.

Authorities say 25-year-old Kyle Johnson critically injured a woman who lives in the home and also assaulted her husband.

Erie police say Johnson was shot in the back and leg by the couple's neighbor when Johnson fled the home after being confronted. Police officers who'd just arrived witnessed the shooting and arrested Johnson.

Police say 23-year-old Brandi Shakir, the kidnap victim, is hospitalized with unknown injuries. The 58-year-old homeowner is in critical condition, and her 51-year-old husband is in stable condition.

Police say Shakir was abducted by Johnson Monday from her mother's home in Oakwood, about 18 miles southeast of Cleveland.
