Shawnee voters approve school, police funding

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Voters in the Shawnee area approved a pair of levies Tuesday night.

With all 18 precincts and absentee votes counted, voters in the Shawnee school district approved an additional 4.58 mill levy, with 60.5% of voters saying yes. The levy continues for five years to raise money for emergency requirements to end deficit spending.

With all 12 precincts and absentee votes counted, voters in Shawnee Township itself approved an addition 3.5 mill levy for five years for police services, with 76.7% voting in favor of it.
