Lima records first homicide of 2020

LIMA — Just 20 days into the new year, Lima/Allen County has its first homicide, after a 44-year-old man was found shot behind a bar near Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Officers from the Lima Police Department were dispatched at around 2:45 a.m. Monday in response to a shooting in the rear parking lot of Pappy’s Lounge, 1000 W. North St.

Upon their arrival, police found Danielle Jackson suffering from gunshot wounds. Jackson was transported to the nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to LPD Detective Todd Jennings, the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information surrounding the shooting is asked to contact the Lima Police Department at 419-227-4444 or through the department’s Facebook page.
