Hospital auxiliary donates $100K

LIMA — The Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has raised $100,000 this year for the Lima Memorial Foundation as part of a years-long fundraiser for the hospital’s welcome center, which is under construction as part of a redesign included in the health system’s $30 million expansion.

All told, the auxiliary has raised about $400,000 toward its $500,000 goal through special fundraisers and sales at the auxiliary’s gift shop and café.

Auxiliary President-elect David McCluer said he anticipates meeting that $500,000 goal by the end of 2020.

“If you’ve been around the hospital, we have new things going in: new medical equipment coming in, areas getting revamped,” McCluer said. “(I) can’t say enough. They put the money wherever it’s needed most.”

Lima Memorial Health System in August announced a $30 million expansion, including the redesign of the welcome center. The new welcome center will feature a multi-lane drive, a new café, an outdoor garden and a larger gift shop. It will also connect to the hospital’s new outpatient and diagnostic imaging center, which will bring together a mix of outpatient services like CT and EEG scans, X-ray and ultrasound, pulmonary function testing, wide-bore MRI, laboratory services and an interventional radiology suite.

Lima Memorial is also expanding its Wapakoneta family medicine clinic and transformation the Lima hospital’s inpatient rehabilitation unit. And the hospital recently opened a new 16,000-square-foot cardiovascular area.

Ten long-time auxiliary volunteers were made life members with the Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary during its annual meting on Thursday.

Lane Boyd, Betty Flarida, Kate Ferguson, June Holtzapple, Donna Jean “D.J.” Kohler, Shirley Kuaile, Karen Lawrence, Dorothy Randall, Judy Thompson and Sue Williams were made life members, a distinction recognizing volunteers who have been with the auxiliary for 20 years and who have at least 10 years of active service to the organization.
