LIMA — Mix 103.3’s annual holiday gala, Flip the Switch, takes place from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at Lima’s Town Square. A contest winner will flip the switch that turns on Lima’s Christmas tree.

The event, sponsored by Tyler Sutton State Farm, is free and open to the public.

Other events around the region include:

Bingo: 6:45 p.m. Friday at the Lima American Legion Hall, 711 S. Shore Drive, Lima.

American Legion Post 96 will host charity bingo games every Friday and Sunday through November.

Music & Mingle at Purple Wine Feet Boutique: 5-7 p.m. Friday at 230 N. Main St., Lima. Admission is free.

Enjoy an evening of music and mingling. Listen to the smooth jazz piano sounds of Richard Commons, sip on your favorite beverage, and have great conversations. Stop in to mingle with your friends or meet and network with new friends.

ONU Holiday Spectacular: 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Freed Center for Performing Arts, 525 S. Main St., Ada.

The showcase will return to the Freed Center at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20.

On Saturday:

Drones operation STEMM mini sessions for junior high students: 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 20, Jan. 8 and March 5, at Rhodes State College, Lima.

Harvest 5k: noon Saturday at The Way International Headquarters, 19100 E. Shelby Road, New Knoxville.

NEW KNOXVILLE — The Way International is hosting a 5k run/walk and concert at noon on Saturday. Registration for the race costs $25. Children are admitted free. Registration begins at noon and the race will start at approximately 1:30 p.m. Participants can also register online at j.mp/3j3t5Kd before race day.

On Saturday night, the harvest concert prelude will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the main event starting at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.

Healthy Families Expo: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Civic Center, 7 Town Square, Lima.

LIMA — Activate Allen County will hold its healthy families expo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The free event will include appearances from Santa and his reindeer, face painting, bounce houses, interactive workshops and demonstrations for children; a food distribution from the West Ohio Food Bank for families; community vendors, raffles and live music; and a coronavirus vaccination clinic, with incentives available for Medicaid recipients. Free T-shirts will be given away to the first 150 children in attendance.

Masks are encouraged but not required.

Rhodesology STEMM mini sessions for 4th to 7th graders: 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 20, through Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Rhodes State College, Lima. Contact Ashley Hunter at [email protected] or 419-204-6352.

The cost is $24 per session or $49 for four events. Topics include drones, steam energy, electric motors, wind energy and industrial engineering.

‘The Weight of Words’ musical: 3 p.m. Saturday at the Impact Center, 2000 N. Cole St., Lima.

Heir Force Community School will present the anti-bullying musical “The Weight of Words.”

On Sunday:

Celebration of Life: 7 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church, 101 Montville St., Alger.

The event — which includes worship, visitation, music and refreshments — will honor those who have served God.

Jazz Ensemble concert: 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, Yoder Recital Hall, Bluffton University, 1 University Drive, Bluffton.

The event is free and open to the public; a free-will offering for music scholarships will occur during intermission.
