LIMA — There’s no shortage of things to do in Lima on Halloween weekend, with parties, events and trick-or-treaters all over town, but those who could use a break from the scares can hit the track at the Allen County Fairgrounds on Saturday for the Half Mile Halloween Bash and Hog Roast.

It’s set to be a full day of bike racing, with spectator gates opening at 10:30 a.m. and the first heat race scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Motorcycles across a range of classes will make for an exciting day on the half mile. Main event races are set to start at 4:30 p.m. Racers of all ages and skill sets will be competing.

RPM Promotions owner Jeff Hiers said that he expects another great turnout from Lima, thanks to its major racing culture. RPM previously held a similar event back in May.

“Lima’s got a lot of history with the old roots, dating back to the 1960s, and I raced there personally as a pro,” Hiers said. “And they have the big pro race every year, so being able to bring an amateur and pro event to Lima two times in one year is something special.”

Once the racing is over for the night, spectators can stay at the fairgrounds to enjoy the after-party to grab a beer and enjoy the hog roast, as well as live music from the Rylie Lynn Band.

Tickets for the race cost $20 for adults and $10 for kids, with kids 5 and younger admitted for free. After-party tickets cost $10.

Weather could be a factor that changes the schedule over the weekend, but Hiers said that they have Sunday to use as a rain date just in case. RPM will be posting weather and schedule updates on their Facebook page if updates are needed.

“Sunday is looking nice, but we want to try to get it all in Saturday,” Hiers said. “If we’ve got to turn on the lights, then that’s what we have to do.”
