COLUMBUS — In addition to being part of the welcoming committee for the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s newest occupants, Lovell’s sea lion pup and Phoebe’s male Asian elephant calf, why not take advantage of the zoo’s first late-night Friday event?

Zoombezi Bay Summer Night begins Friday, June 25, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, 4850 Powell Rd., Powell, Ohio. Enjoy live entertainment, share some musical fun with Cali Sea Lion and her friends, float along in the wave pool, and catch the evening movie, The Mighty Ducks, at 8 p.m. Prices vary from the all-day admission price, which includes all of the Columbus Zoo’s attractions, of $21.99 for adults, $16.99 for children and seniors, to $10 for a late-comer discount, valid after 7 p.m., exclusively to Zoombezi Bay. The Zoo opens at 9 a.m.

Other events around the region include:

Real American Sunrise: 7-8:30 a.m. Friday, June 25, at the Veterans Memorial Civic & Convention Center, #7 Town Square, downtown Lima. Join the Lima Chamber of Commerce and more than 100 business leaders at this monthly breakfast meeting to learn what’s brewing besides the coffee. Admission, which includes a continental breakfast, is $5 for members; $7 for non-members. Participants are encouraged to bring some business cards to exchange with others and spend time networking.

Live Music on the Patio at Old Barn Restaurant: 6:30-9:30 p.m. Friday at 3175 W. Elm St., Lima. Stedic Music, a world and reggae band from Lima that’s also described as offering a fun, high-energy performance suitable for all ages, is featured at 8:30 p.m. (If it rains, the party is moved indoors.) Admission is the cost of your choice of food or drink.

Van Wert Civic Theatre Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr.: 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at the Van Wert Civic Theatre, 118 S. Race St., Van Wert. Tickets $10. Family-friendly.

Lima Half-Mile Motorcycle Races at Allen County Fairgrounds: 1 p.m. Saturday gates open; 6 p.m. racing begins at 2750 Harding Highway in Lima. General admission is $30, reserved seating is $35. Tickets the day of the race are $40 for general admission and $45 for reserved seating. Fans are welcome to walk through the pits before the race, watch teams work on their motorcycles, get autographs, take photos and talk with the racers.

Sensory Support Day at Lima Community Church: 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 26, at 2945 N. Cole St., Lima. Would you, your child or students benefit from a sensory bin, calm-down bottles or have fun with liquid chalk? If your child or student has sensory needs this event is designed for you. This is an adult-only event. Cost is $15 per person. This includes all supplies. Registration is required because of limited seating. Rotary Movies in the Park: 7:30-10 p.m. Saturday at the Rotary Pavilion in Faurot Park at S. Cole Street and Park Drive in Lima. Disney’s “Moana” is the featured film, which begins at dusk. Free. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

Westgate Charity Car Show: Sunday, June 27, from 12 noon-4 p.m. at Apollo Career Center, 3325 Shawnee Rd., Lima. Registration is from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Although there is no charge for spectators, there is a $10 entry fee for cars — all vehicles are welcome. There will be games and activities for kids, drawings, raffles, concessions and door prizes. The Best of Show Award receives $500; 2nd place receives $200 and 3rd place receives $100. All of the money is donated to local causes.

Bluffton Trinity United Methodist Church Community Hog Roast: 1-4 p.m. Sunday, June 27, at 2022 State Route 103 in Bluffton. The whole family can enjoy a free meal including side dishes, dessert and a drink. Dine-in, weather permitting, or take-out is available. There were be a petting zoo for children.
