ELIDA — If treasure-hunting at one garage sale just isn’t enough for you, this weekend is for you. If you find one bargain at a garage sale and it only makes you hungry to hunt for another — if you can only find another garage sale where you can hunt — this weekend is for you.
Laurel Oaks neighborhood garage sales await you Friday, June 11 and Saturday, June 12, with a suggested time of 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at 120 Chickadee Place, Elida, and throughout the Laurel Oaks neighborhood. Sale times may vary throughout the neighborhood.
“This year’s sale has almost 50 houses listed, so it will be a great time for those in the community to come out and shop,” said Angie Ramsdail via email. Ramsdail has been organizing the Laurel Oaks neighborhood garage sales for almost a decade.
“I like to think the community knows our neighborhood has a good garage sale to attend: lots of locations to visit close together and good prices. Many times we see people posting our event on Facebook, tagging friends and talking about taking personal days off work just to come to the sales,” Ramsdail said.
She said the best part of the neighborhood working together to offer so many garage sales at once to the public is that it brings the people in the neighborhood together and gives them a chance to showcase their neighborhood and be proud of what they’ve built.
“We are trying to raise money for a new basketball and pickle ball court at our park. Our park is fully funded by private neighborhood and community donations, and we’ve really seen the community come together in the past year-plus to help raise money for the park. We appreciate everyone who comes out to our garage sales,” Ramsdail said.
If visiting garage sales makes you hungry, food trucks will be serving J&M Homemade Ice Cream from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.
When you’ve loaded all your treasures in the car from all the garage sales you’ve visited, other events in the region await.
